On Friday we made soup from the vegetables in our garden. First we went around and harvested all the vegetables that were ready. Then Mrs Dale used some of them to put in the staff lunch soup. The rest were made into a soup for Room 13. We had to pick off the caterpillars and snails but that meant our vegetables were organic and had not been sprayed. It was fun digging potatoes, we had not done that before.

BNZ Closed for Good 9.3.11

We were luck enough to get 8 BNZ staff helping us this year. In the morning they finished the job enviro group had been working on by putting bark around the vegetable gardens by Room 15. They also put bark on the driveway garden, chopped down the privet on our native walkway and filled Room 11, 15 and 18 gardens with soil. In the afternoon they worked with the enviro group to clear and weed the walkway path.
Green Day 25.2.11

For our first Green Day this year most classes replanted their vegetable or class gardens after the long dry summer holiday. Room 4 luckily still had thriving tomato plants that have given them tomato on crackers, brain food and the excess went to the staff.
Miss Faull has been giving teachers ideas about what to do with their produce so hopefully we will see lots of yummy food being produced and eaten.
